Janice Deul: Heritage & Identity
The first lecture of Textile Inspiration Day will be given by Leiden-based Janice Deul. She will talk about the role textiles play in relation to heritage and identity. The lecture will be given in English.
About Janice Deul
Janice was co-curator of Voices of Fashion – Black Couture, Beauty & Styles (Centraal Museum, Utrecht), creative director of Knowing Cotton Otherwise (Fashion for Good Museum, Amsterdam), wrote the essay Black Fashion Matters for the exhibition Africa’s Fashion Diaspora (FIT Museum, New York), and served on the advisory committee for the exhibition Oceanista: Fashion & Sea, on view until 12 April at the Scheepvaartmuseum in Amsterdam.

Janice was medesamensteller van Voices of Fashion – Black couture, beauty & styles (Centraal Museum, Utrecht), creative director van Knowing Cotton Otherwise (Fashion for Good Museum, Amsterdam), schreef de bijdrage Black Fashion Matters voor de tentoonstelling Africa’s Fashion Diaspora (FIT Museum, New York) en zat in de adviescommissie voor de tentoonstelling 'Oceanista. Fashion & Sea' die tot 12 april te zien is in Scheepvaartmuseum, Amsterdam.
